Story

"Christmas is the time of sharing! Unfortunately Santa's "Naughty List" is horribly outdated and in need of restructuring. Namely, I shouldn't be on it. The plan is simple:

Sneak into Santa's workshop, get my presents and make it out alive."

Game

Looting Surprises is a 2D action platformer made in 48 hours for the Yogcast Game Jam 2020, with the theme surprise!

This is a heist style game. The player must navigate Santa's facility and steal the item at the end of the level. But beware, collecting the item triggers the security system. You must escape back through the level you just did while contending with new hazards.

  • 10 levels and 7 unique security measures.
  • This game is designed for speedrunning. Your times are saved locally as soon as you complete a level.
  • You can view all your level times on the level select screen. Post your times on the main page, we would love to see how you do! https://kira42.itch.io/looting-surprises

Theme explanation

The theme surprise is you don't know what will happen until you get the present and trigger the alarm. The security system does something different in each level.

The surprise does only work once per level however. Each level was designed specially for each hazard to make sure players can beat it on the first try with some quick thinking. We wanted the first playthrough to be the surprise and later playthroughs to be about beating your time. Rather than making every playthrough a surprise.
